This was my first blogging experience and I definitely learned a lot! Sometimes it was difficult making myself sit down everyday and write, but since I was blogging about two things that really interested me it made it easier. I think that if I ever chose to blog again then it would be a better experience because I would be choosing to blog on my own. I think blogging would be very beneficial in my future business and I will honestly most likely do it. Having a blog for my speech therapy business can allow current and future clients to see information and see what my experience is as a speech therapist. It could also give me insight into my clients if they choose to leave a comment. It would be a good way to get feedback from other speech therapists with experience or parents of clients. I think having a blog would also show my clients that I care about what I do and I want to do the best I can. I am also not trying to keep anything from my clients about my experience and that would be a good way for them to really get to know me, especially before they come in for their first session.

I learn by doing things on my own and learning through trial and error, therefore I would be considered an intrapersonal learner. Since our blog had to be about our experience with figuring out two Web 2.0 tools on our own, then that was right down my alley. I like to be given enough information about something that I can figure out what to do, but I like to figure out a lot of it on my own. This module was perfect for that and I really liked how I got to talk about my experiences with the tools whether they worked or not. I don't like when a teacher expects a student to do perfectly on something, and I think this project gave the students an open field that they didn't feel had to be perfect, it was just about their experience. I learn more by doing things like this rather than everything being about the "grade". Overall I learned a lot about blogging, video blogging, Web 2.0 tools, and the two tools that I chose!

I am really excited I got to share my experiences with you about both blogging and using the Web 2.0 tools. Because of this, I will continue to use Pinterest and Skype as well as blog in the future. They will all be beneficial to me and I will recommend all of them to anyone and everyone. I don't know a job or career in which any of these would not be beneficial. I think the most beneficial one to me in the future will be blogging and I am excited to see where it leads me. This was a great learning experience for me in so many ways and I hope from reading my blog, it was for you as well!

I have posted a video blog below that explains somewhat of my experience with my Web 2.0 tools and what I think about them!

Well, here I am, home for the weekend, and for the past hour or so I have been researching Pinterest and playing around with it. It is so intriguing and I am already addicted! Once you start pinning a few things and realizing how everything works on it then it becomes so easy. I think I have gotten the hang of it, although I am still having a little trouble with some things..

After being on Pinterest for a while today I started to think about what were all the different things Pinterest could be used for in an education sense. Yes, it's great for people planning weddings and parties and classroom spaces, but what kind of activities could students do while using this website. I thought about it first before looking up ideas and came up with something like the students having to make their own future classroom or business and get ideas from Pinterest. But I couldn't really come up with anything else, so I looked it up. I found a page called "A Teacher's Perspective on Pinterest" and there were so many ideas about ways Pinterest can be used in the classroom! One thing the website stated that really stuck out to me was that Pinterest is a great way to engage students. Pinterest consists of so many different things and can be used to create collaborative boards for group projects and such. Pinterest could also be used for something like a group project done online and at home that involves the students working independently, but pinning ideas onto the same board and then the teacher can just leave comments and feedback right there on their Pinterest account. Pinterest can be an easy and useful way to formulate group projects for students and it would allow them to show their creative sides as well.

So far I believe Pinterest has been amazing and there are so many things that it can be used for, whether it be educational or just for fun!

I have looked at Skype some more today as well and as I said in my last post, there isn't much more to explore with it. But for obvious reasons it can be used for education too. It is so simple that you could have any kind of business conference on it or it could be used if a child is out of school and needs to see and hear the teacher. It can also be used for the new kinds of ways of teaching like being in different countries and Skyping to talk to each other and learn.

Both of the Web 2.0 tools I chose have been helpful so far in teaching me more about todays technology and there is no doubt they will continued to be used for many different reasons in my future.

So back from another day of pinning and using Skype! Before I got on again today I decided to look up how to follow someone on Pinterest. I found a really helpful video on Youtube and it explained a lot about Pinterest. The narrator of the video stated that following someone on Pinterest is just like following someone on Twitter. When you follow someone on Twitter, you are following them because you want to see what they tweet on your newsfeed. And the same goes for Pinterest, you follow someone because you want to see their pictures and ideas on your home page. The difference is that you have the option of just following one or few of someones boards instead of all of them. So if I go to someones profile and I only like the board about wedding ideas then I can choose to just follow that instead of following all of their boards, some of which I may not be interested in seeing. This video was very helpful to me and now I am ready to follow people and start some more pinning!

When I have my Speech Therapy business I will use Pinterest a lot to get new ideas about my office space as well as new ideas for what to use in some of my sessions.

Along with my Pinterest adventure for the day I also had my first Skype experience. I knew one of my friends would Skype me because he asks all the time but I have never downloaded it or new how to work it. It was a very simple download and I just had to fill out some information and the actual download didn't take long at all. I then just added a few names to my contacts which was a little confusing and some of them were hard to find but I guess that is a good thing, I don't won't random people I don't know trying to Skype me. I then had a little chat with my friend over Skype! It was very easy to work with and the site overall worked really well. We could hear and see each other clearly and I also noticed there was a place where we could just message back and forth. (Maybe to be used if there was an instance where we couldn't talk for a minute or something.) After using Skype for the first time today I realized that I would love to use that in the future with clients if I need too. It is fast and efficient and a good way to have a "face to face" conversation with someone without actually being together.

So far my experiences with both Pinterest and Skype have been exciting and fun! I will continue to learn how to do new things on Pinterest and share my experience with you. As for Skype, I'm not sure if there is much more for me to explore but if there is then I will gladly share!

Hi all! So as I stated in my last blog, I am not a very tech savvy person. But I managed to successfully sign in to my Pinterest account today! I spent today just looking around at the different things you can do and how it all works. I already had a board on my page for my room in my sorority house next year that my future roommates tagged me in. (Not sure if that's what you call it or not.) But I had the pleasure of getting to look through all the different ideas for our room that they "pinned". Pinterest is such an exciting site and it was quite interesting looking through how everything works.

Pinterest did have some confusing parts to it as well though. I couldn't figure out how to "follow" other people. I saw where it said you could follow all of their boards or just one of them but does that mean you are "following" that person if you only follow one of their boards? I will research that tomorrow and figure out what it means to follow someone on Pinterest!

Overall, my first day on Pinterest went well and I realized the many things so many different people can use Pinterest for. Anyone and everyone can use Pinterest for any kind of thing they are planning, or they can just use it for the social aspect and show their personality with their "pins"! I will definitely use this site for future room, party, wedding and decorating ideas and I will encourage anyone I work with to use it to get ideas about decorating their office space as well.

I also signed up for Skype today and looked around at it for awhile and it seems pretty easy and efficient! I have my first "Skype date" tomorrow so we will see how that goes! Can't wait to keep sharing my web 2.0 experience with you!

Welcome to my first blogging experience! I have been looking around at which web 2.0 tools I should experiment with and blog about. After seeing all the different tools I could possibly use, I decided to go with two tools that are pretty common and I feel most people use them. I don't use technology much besides using Facebook and Twitter on my phone as well as texting. So I wanted to find two tools that will benefit me and I want them to be things that I will use in the future. With that being said, I have decided to go with Pinterest and Skype! I hear people talking about these things constantly and I decided it was time for me to get acquainted with them and learn how to use them efficiently.

Incase you aren't familiar with it, Pinterest is a visual bookmarking website that allows you to "pin" images and videos that you find online and want to save or share with others. People can follow you or your pinboards and they can repin the content you share and that they like. Pinterest is a very visual and social site and many people use it to get new ideas for things like decorating a new room, planning a wedding or party, hair and nail ideas, and many other creative ideas for things. My mom made a Pinterest under my name for my high school graduation party last year and I did not know this until I went to sign up for it recently. I guess after technically having a Pinterest for almost a year, it is about time I start using it!

I decided to go with Skype as my second web 2.0 tool because I want to learn about it and how to use it. I know how to use facetime on a iphone and macbook but only people with a iproduct can use facetime. Many of my friends don't have macbooks and are always wanting to Skype me so I would love to finally learn how to use it! Using Skype will allow me to communicate with my friends by video and it is also a good tool I need to learn about for future assignments. I can also use Skype to communicate with classmates about a group assignment or anything that we need to be able to see each other for in future classes.

I am excited to start looking and playing around with these two tools and I can't wait to share my experience with you!
